Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here.
If you’ve found your way to Amanda’s Midwest Kitchen, chances are you appreciate homemade food, family traditions, and recipes that fit into real life. That’s exactly what you’ll find here.
I’m a culinary school graduate who has spent my entire life in the Midwest, where family meals, fresh gardens, and neighborly hospitality are simply a way of life. As a busy wife, mom, and full-time hospitality professional, I know how challenging it can be to put wholesome, homemade meals on the table every day. That’s why this blog is all about making homemade practical, not perfect.
I believe some of the best recipes are the ones passed down through generations, and I don’t want those skills to disappear. Together, we’ll explore old-fashioned techniques like making butter, yogurt, and cheese from scratch, creating homemade pantry staples, preserving garden harvests, and learning simple ways to make our kitchens a little more self-sufficient.
You’ll also find plenty of easy weeknight dinners, comforting Midwest favorites, seasonal recipes using fresh ingredients from my garden, and kitchen tips that save both time and money. My goal is to show that homemade doesn’t have to mean spending all day in the kitchen.
One of my greatest joys is stepping outside to gather herbs, vegetables, and flowers from my garden, then bringing them inside to create something delicious to share with family and friends. There’s something special about knowing exactly where your food comes from and creating memories around the dinner table.
Whether you’re an experienced home cook or just beginning your homemade journey, I hope you’ll find inspiration, encouragement, and recipes you’ll come back to again and again.
Thank you for stopping by and becoming part of this community. Grab a cup of coffee, browse around, and make yourself at home.
Here’s to homemade meals, Midwest hospitality, and keeping the traditions of the kitchen alive one recipe at a time.
